The Autumn Equinox is officially here and it's no secret; it's my favorite time of year! I love sharing these seasonal bucket lists! While most aren't new, crazy, awe-inspiring ideas, sometimes we all need the reminder to slow-down and simplify.
Use this bucket list to spark your own outdoor adventures this season—keeping wonder, imagination, and creativity at the heart of it all.
Be a leaf peeper for a day
Go for a walk in the woods, local park or even your yard and see how many leaf colors you see!
fall picnic/potluck
Gather with friends, family or neighbors and share in your favorite fall meals at the park, in your yard or other greenspace.
hide + seek at a corn maze
This is a given, right?!
decorate a pumpkin
There are so many ways to decorate a pumpkin from using nature treasures + eco-friendly glue to make a compostable pumpkin or a more classic way with paint and art materials like buttons, pom poms, tissue paper - there are so many options here! Choose a theme or our favorite, free range creative expression.
bake your favorite pie or try a new recipe
Maybe it's something as simple as a recipe exchange on a Sunday morning over coffee in the park with friends or spending a day in the kitchen trying new recipes.
visit a new greenspace
Join the Outdoor Bandits Facebook group and maybe you'll discover a path you haven't walked before!
cider donuts for lunch
Do I have to say more?
host a donation-based cider stand
Combine kindness and creativity with a cause! Donate the proceeds to a local nonprofit or use the funds to make an in-kind donation to your choice organization.
go apple picking
There are so many great spots here in NH and around New England: Mack's Apples, Gould Hill Farm, Carter Hill Orchard, Cider Hill Farm, Smolak Farms, Applecrest Farm, Russell Orchards....I could go on for days. Revisit a family favorite AND visit a new space!
make magic mud potion
All you need is dirt, water, and some courage to get messy. Add food coloring, baking soda and vinegar, flower petals and other nature treasures for additional magical fun.
"boo" your neighbors
Surprise a neighbor or friend with a boo bag! It can of course be as simple as some candy but why not a homemade card, pumpkin, mulled cider kit, or a few apples. It doesn't have to be complicated, and you don't have to boo ALL your neighbors; pick 1 or 2 you'd like to surprise! We'll be sending a copy of our Boo Card to share this week, stay tuned!
go camping (even if it's in your back yard!)
Is there anything better than fall camping? Pitch a tent under the stars or set up a fort on the porch. Read stories by flashlight, make s’mores, and listen for nighttime sounds — all the fun of camping, without the packing stress. We are planning to do this Friday with a Halloween movie outside in the tent!
Do something every day to make the world a better place
Kindness counts — big or small. Smile at a stranger, hold the door, write thank-you notes, or bring treats to your local helpers. Simple acts make ripples in your community and beyond.
Bonus! Join us for our 3rd annual, fall lantern walk!
