After profound personal loss, Steph created Willowdale as a safe space for families to explore, connect, and grow through child-led, nature-based play. A Certified Forest School Leader with a background in culinary arts, she now nurtures wonder, resilience, and community through Willowdale.

Kathleen has been a member of the Willowdale community since its earliest days when she had her first child. Now as a mom to 3, she is passionate about community-based nature education and believes that children learn to care for the natural world by experiencing it for themselves through play. Kathleen is committed to helping raise the next generation of nature lovers one muddy adventure at a time!

Family, and a lifelong fascination for science and nature, have played the greatest roles in shaping who I am today. These passions drove me to pursue a PhD in Biology from Dartmouth and start a family of my own. As a mother, one of the biggest gifts of parenthood has been witnessing my children’s own curiosity and wonder of our natural world. It is an honor to serve on the Willowdale board as we bring together families in our community and share this love of the outdoors together.
